Vijay after the unpopular Flop grosser releases of Kuruvi, Azhagiya Tamil Magan (ATM) and Villu, Ilaya Thalapathy Vijay seems to go steady and safe in his highly expected high budget venture Vettaikaran. Ilaya Thalapathy Vijay keen to make the Vettaikaran big hit to boost his fans and to make a step to politics with good sign. u people know that first day collection of vettaikkaran is 16 crores? If dont know, know it now. Its a record breaking collection beating sivaji’s 1st day collection. We dont want movie to be 100 days in theatres as housefull but it should earn more revenue to distributors and in that way ilayathalapathi won in this race. Hunting still going on…….

If you are vijay fan support and watch his film. I dont mind that. But dont ever dare to compare him with DEMIGOD called Rajini. Vijay is no where near Rajini. most of the ppl outside tamilnadu will not know who vijay but Rajini is different. So pls dont compare our one and only superstar with anybody else. And about veetaikaran… Its a film that has to be watched while traveling in govt bus (thiruttu VCD) as you ll not get sleep in govt bus due to high amount of shaking. Conductors are very fond of using vijay film because it ll def bring sleep to you.

After reading all what u’ve said (which makes no sense at all and I still say Vettaikaran is a flop), it’s confirmed that u r suffering from some sort of mental illness.. u might want to check u’r self with a good doctor and get some help.. this might be also due to watching too many bad movies of Vijay’s.
With regard to your comments on other actors and other movies, I’m not defending single actor in the industry but… compared to the kind of movies Vijay had given, it’s a safe bet to say almost all other actors can give a better movie.
Vijay and Ajith both have acted in 49 movies, but out of these 49 both have given horrible movies, but at the same time Ajith has given some splendid performances in movies like
1. Aasai
2. Vaali
3. Villan
4. Varalaaru
5. Billa
and Vijay hasn’t really given any proper performance except maybe for Kadalukku mariyathai. (Vijay can’t act.. he’s so stiff, he’s fit to play the role of a tree or a statue in stage dramas)
Surya’s Vaaranam Aayiram or Kakka Kakka was a success not just because of the songs but of the screen play and his acting.. Surya, Vikram, Kamal, Karthi.. these are people who work hard.. put them in difficult situations and act… work really hard to give good performance unklike Vijay..
I respect all of these performers who work hard to keep us the views entertained… unlike Vijay who does nothing.. doesn’t do jack shit and expects his movies to run for 100 days.. that’ll never happen.. unless he starts acting in proper movies.

Is anti gravity fight scenes which are soooo old fashion an entertainment? Is jumping onto a running train from a bridge entertainment???? Or is Hitting a villain onto a train where the villain will bounce off a train come back and fall and still survive to get hammered by Vijay is entertaining for u? These are cheap ‘C’ class crap and this is not entertainment, this is irritating rubbish…. If we go to a theater to watch a movie, we spend our money and time.. and what we expect to see is good entertainment through either good acting (which vijay can’t do… ) or a good screen play and story (which u don’t find in Vijay movies) at least good direction (which u don’t get in any of Vijay’s movies) good camera work, CGI, BGM (these are also not part of any of Vijay’s movies) or at least some good music (that’s missing in all Vijay movies.. all u get to hear is ‘Kuthu songs’)

Sampath, if u think people go to watch movies to get PHd, then there’s something wrong in your head that u need to get medical help ASAP.
All other actors may it be Ajith, Vikram, Surya or Kamal.. they are give different stories, different screen plays, different characters… Vijay has only 1 character (a crime fighting hero)..
Ajith’s roles
1. Vaali (he was the villain as well as the hero, excellent acting and awesome story)
2. Varalaaru (comes in 3 different roles, his acting is different in all 3 characters.. brilliant acting and good story)
3. Citizen (completely different story, so many different characters, and each character is acted and voiced differently)
4. Billa ( a mass entertainment movie with yet another different story to all his previous movies)
5. Aasai (Brilliant acting, fantastic story and direction.. one of the best movies I’ve watched)
so.. as u can see.. there’s difference in Ajith’s acting and his movies.. this is what we like to see in movies..
Surya’s movies
1. Kakka Kakka (awesome police story and his acting is out of this world)
2. Vaaranam Aayiram (The story is fantastic, and his acting deserves an award.. brilliant)
3. Ayan (yet another storyline for Surya, he’s never acted in a similar movie before.. good acting and nice screen play)
4. Pithamahan (Brilliant movie with fantastic acting by everyone.. )
Surya.. a well versatile actor.. and a very good entertainer..
it’s the same with Vikram, Kamal, Viney and all other actors… even Barath’s movies have different storyline, good acting.. etc.
What does Vijay movie have? nothing.. it’s the same masala story.. tell me how Villu is different to Kuruvi, and how kuruvi and villu different to Vettaikaran??? it’s the same masala story.. 1 hero.. he can fight anyone single handedly.. He’s always there for the poor man and he’s always there to fight for justice, he will always fall in love with a rich girl, and the rich girl will always fall in love with him even though he’s a low life guy in the movie, he will fight all his villains by flying, jumping over trains and trees… common.. we are kinda sick of this kinda good for nothing movies..
If Vijay thinks he can have a hit movie with this type of Masala story.. then he’s going have more movies that’s going to flop like his previous movies and Vettaikaran.
Vettaikaran is a massive flop.. I have statistical evidence to prove u that it’s a flop, it’s so bad in the Europe that it’s been taken off theaters there, I was in Singapore last week, went to watch a movie in this place called “Yishun” in Singapore (the only place they were showing Vettaikaran in Singapore) and they were giving free tickets, I got a ticket for Peranmai and Vettaikaran ticket was given free.. most of the theaters in TamilNadu is empty for Vettaikaran screening.. It’s a mega flop..
I just hope Vijay comes up with a better story in Sura (but for some reason, the name of the movies makes me feel as if it’s going to be yet another bad masala mix story that’s going to be another flop for Vijay)

Now that I’ve made my point on your screen name.. lets talk business.. If you feel this way after watching Adhavan (Which in my view was a bad movie from Surya’s standards) how on earth could u think Vettaikaran is even good?????
If vettaikaran is good.. Adhavan deserves an Oscar for all categories.. Don’t even compare the 2 movies… about Asal’s song, yes… the songs aren’t too great, but songs r just part of a movie, as long as the movie has a good screen play, I think it should make a good movie and hands down I can say it’ll be (for that matter any movie) a lot better movie that Vettaikaran.
For Vijay’s sake, and for people like u (hardcore Vijay fans) I hope Vijay has at least now realized that he should stop coming up with useless films like these and focus on more substantial projects in the future.

btw… what is your definition of a “massive hit”? having 5 people watching the movie on the 5th day after the the movie was released? every vijay fan went out of their way and said villu was a massive hit, then said kuruvi was a massive hit, they said this to pretty much most of his recent movies and WE ALL KNOW how massive hits these movies were.. (these were probably the worst movies of those years).. and Vettaikaran is the worst movie of 2009.. and Sura will be the worst movie of 2010..
The best part is.. no producers will want to produce movies for Vijay in the future cos all his movies will end up being a massive flop, and he’ll soon retire and stay at home hoping his son Sanjay will become a hero one day….
Well… for all those lucky people who still haven’t watched vettaikaran, you can watch it free on Youtube (search for vettaikaran part 1)… but.. trust me.. I watch it last night and regretted wasting abt 3 hours of my life.. it’s not worth it at all… u r better off watching an old 1970′s Vijayakanth movie, even the fight scenes r better in the older movies than this.

In Singapore, they are giving free tickets, For Example if you book a ticket to watch Peranmai they give Vettaikaran ticket free… That’s how bad Vettaikaran is..
In England, USA, Malaysia and Sri Lanka…. the Vettaikaran is taken off in most of the theaters.
About Asal Songs… yes I agree most of the songs in Asal sounds pretty bad (i’m not an Ajith or Surya or Vijay fan… I just appreciate good movies and criticize horrible movies like Vettaikaran),
But Asal movie theme is more of a urban lifestyle, and for the storyline, I think the sound track is passable but definitely not impressive.

On the 3rd day to have 30 people in the cinema hall to watch Vettaikaran???? that can’t be true.. .Ya Vinoda.. don’t spread rumours.. from what I heard Vijay movie (vettaikaran) had only 5 or 6 people watching the movie on the 3rd day. Don’t spread rumours by increasing the number to 30.
Sudhakar – If you think Vinoda’s brother had gone to watch the movie 4 hours before the movie started, that would mean he’s gone to watch the earlier Vettaikaran show ya? either way u look at it.. there were only a few people watching the movie..

Now Vettaikkaran crossed over 25 days without reducing any shows in chennai. That itself a good sign for vijay’s come back. Guys, Please keep on discouraging vijay So that he will grow like anything. Thanks for ur cooperation guys

U and all other Vijay fans were saying similar stories when villu was released.. all of u’ll were screaming u’r ass off saying it’s a mega hit, and it’s breaking records and stuff.. now.. the whole world including u.. know that Villu was a mega flop.. didn’t all of Vijay fans start saying Kuruvi is awesome.. it’s a sure hit, it’s been sold for so many crores… etc.. what happened to Kuruvi??? it flopped in the market, u and others refused to believe it and accept it, but now u knw and everyone else also knw that it was a massive flop.
It’s the same story here, some of u hard core vijay fans are just making this story up saying the movie is running for 25 days without any issues but how many shows in the those 25 days was house full shows?? he he.. not a lot ya?
so.. come back after about a month or two to this same thread and u would realize that Vettaikaran was infact a massive flop..
Read the reviews in all news papers or magazines.. Read the reviews in online blogs… who’s saying this movie’s good??? no one..
I don’t care if Sura was sold for 32 crores or 3200 crores.. when it’s released can it fetch even 3 crores is my question.. cos Vettaikaran is not going to fetch a lot, his previous ATM, Villu, Kuruvi didn’t fetch anything either..

Answer to Moviecritic, Vijay is indeed a christian, he goes to vellankanni church everytime his movie releases and prays for his movie’s success. He has converted his wife also to Christianity. His son is Jason Sanjay . Jason is a christian name. His daighter’s name is Divya Sasha. Sasha is a christian name. Both the son and daughter are brought up as devout christians. Vijay alsu has prohibited his wife from going t temples. We will convert till tamilnadu is 100% Christian state. If you can stop, you stop . Anyway, you cannnot stop us. Most of the politicians queue up in our churches to get our community support. Our Ezra Sargunam (Evangelical society of India) and DGS Paul Dinakaran (Jesus calls) are the closest friends of Tamilnadu Chief minister. We will make our ilayathalapthi Joseph Vijay as the first Christian chief Minister of Tamilnadu soon. just wait and watch. We will acheive totally Christianity in Tamilnadu within the next twenty years.

Impressive write up.. I am quite impressed..
lemme give u a quick comment on what u’ve said.
MovieCritic is my Pen Name (a screen name), that doesn’t make me a person with dual personality. Kavinjar Vaali is known as Vaali even though his real name is “Rangarajan”. Rajni Kanth’s actual name is Sivaji Rao, does this mean these people lead a double life and have dual personality? MovieCritic describes what I do best.. I am a critic.. and there’s nothing wrong in having it this way.
You have all the right to judge my reviews, you could compare it with other reviews done by various people out there and see which are imaginary and which are facts.
Finally.. I am not a fan of any actors or actresses (Grow up people.. it’s so old fashioned to be fans of actors and actresses..). If at all.. I’m a fan of directorial style of Gautham Menon and Mani Ratnam.. I think they’ve come up with some brilliant movies so far.
If you can prove me wrong with my statics.. go ahead.. prove me wrong.. don’t just give fake figures and say the movie made 10 crores and 11 crores.. give me facts.. I’ll rest my case then. I Still stand by what I’ve commented.. Vettaikaran is not a successful movie, Definitely not a successful one with regard to quality (No story, bad acting, pretty ordinary BGM, CGI is horrible.. it’s the same masala mix, but mixed horribly wrong)

Hi MovieCritic, I think you are someone who is communal. We, Christians have already conquered Tamil Cinema. Most of the top heroes and stars are Christians only. For example, Vijay (Joseph), Vikram (Kennedy), Ramesh kanna, Karunas, Livingston, SJ Surya (Justin), Nayantara, Asin, Shalini, Music directors Iman , Harris Jayaraj, James Vasanthan are all Christians only for your information. I can see your stomach burning already . Today, it is Tamil cinema, tomorrow, it will be Tamilnadu. To add to these list, the institution that produces maximum stars through Visual Communications course is our own Loyola college. He he. It is our divine duty to convert others and make Tamilnadu completely Christian. Day is not far when we christians take control of Tamilnadu. Hi all, i think topic is changing a lot here. Please dont include religion here. Mr. movie critic, Vijay gave more hits than any other young actors like kadhalukku mariyadhai, ghilli, thirupachi, sivakasi, pokiri, poove unakkaga, love today, kushi, friends, priyamanavalae etc etc and now vettaikkaran after 1 and half years back. He prooved many times that he is the king of kollywood and having many fans than any other actors having (excluding rajini and kamal) and can u be against this statement? no… not at all and u know very well that. He got good name as Mr. Minimum guarantee and that too u know. How can he get this name without getting more money than the money invested? Answer for these questions first……. and u can’t. Always style dominates performance. for ex: MGR dominated Sivaji, Rajini Dominated Kamal and now Vijay dominating… This is a fact and u cant deny this………….

I am a critique.. I write positive or negative criticism based on how well the movie was made (story, acting, BGM, screen play.. etc)… Like the comment above, Rajni, MGR and now Vijay are just Mass heros.. they don’t try to act.. they just appear in movies and I am not a fan of that sort of movies.
Rangan, what you should understand is that even Kamal, Sivaji and now Surya, vikram they’ve all acted in Mass movies as well.. but the difference between them and Vijay is that they have all tried acting in movies which are critically acclaimed.. all of these actors are well versatile, they’ve tried different stories, different anti climax movies, realistic movies, they’ve all acted in movies which require a lot of hard work, a lot of commitment and acting talent…
Vijay has so far in all his 49 movies has NEVER come out with a movie which requires hard work or challenging acting scenes… and mass movies can become commercial hits simply by fooling and attracting the uneducated C class people with cheesy styles and punch dialogs. These ignorant people would stand up and cheer when vijay fights with 10 villains at the same time, or these tasteless people could give standing ovation when vijay makes an ass of him self in songs (Gosh it’s an embarrassment to see vijay performing in the song Ennoda Laila in Badri) but I am not of that caliber.. I am not a low life and I expect some classiness in movies, and if I don’t see it then I will criticize it.

To be frank, Vettaikaran is not a big hit movie. But at the same time, when compare to his previous movies like Villu, ATM & Kuruvi, Vettaikaran is better movie. So vettaikaran is an average movie. We can watch once.
And about vijay, yes he is a Mass Hero.. he got lot of fans. But he has to travel a lot to reach the top position like Rajini.. But we have to accept this, ie Vijay tops the mass hero list (Dont include Rajini & kamal in this list.)
Every person get ups and down.. So please aviod speaking dirty about actors by comparing each other.. Everyone has got some special qualities..

In my opinion vettaikaaran is a good movie.Because the first went well with comedy and second part same as bhagavathy and baatsha.But this movie makes you sit in the theathre because of the good screenplay and direction.Babusivan excels in it.This is also a good movie from sun pictures and I had a feeling that it was better than Aadhavan

What sugumar says is correct. But some people are having habit of critizing vijay always even if he did good movies. For ex: Some people said that thirumalai is a flop movie, and i understood that we cant try to make them know the fact. “Thoonguravana ezhuppalam aana thooguraa maadhiri nadippavana ezhuppavae mudiyaadhu”. They not even accept that vijay gave some mega hit movies.

We go to movies to relieve our stress and escape from the reality.
Movies are suppose to give great entertainment.. Not to give us stress.
Vijay movies have been great entertainers except for Villu , ATM and of course ( why the hell he did ) Kuruvi.
Vetaikaran had good entertainment and the ending wasnt how it was in his previous films. Less punch dialogues . Even the villians in these movies had equal footage with Vijay.
On the other hand Ajith movies always have the classy touch , even before Billa, Kiredam, Varalaru, Ji…. all these had classy touch. Aalvar, aegan, Paramasivan and Tirupathi also had great entertainment but did they work out well with the audience?
So please dear Ajith Fans, I agree your Thala has Class
But our Thalapathy has Mass…

What is Xerox? Xerox is a brand name, (http://www.xerox.com/) they produce photocopiers and printers, so what does Xerox have in common with Asal and Billa??? makes no sense.
In case if u were trying to say Asal is a “Copy” of Billa, then use the word “Copy”.. Xerox is a brand name and doesn’t mean copy or photocopy. there are canon, epson, toshiba photocopiers (available even in India).. so if you want to take a photocopy.. then say “photocopy” without saying “xerox”…

Whoevers says that vettaikaran is a hit, please refer to this site which gives the official top collector movies released in 2009. Vettaikaran is way behind (makiing just 1 crore in spite of all the push from Sun TV advertisements)
